iPhone users will spend money to buy iPhone 16 because of the software, and not hardware

The iPhone 15 series is a pretty good upgrade, bringing a new chipset, Dynamic Island cutouts on all models, action buttons on Pro models, and USB-C. The Pro Max model also has a folding zoom camera for the first time, finally catching up with the best Android phones.

Now, Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman has shared in his Power On newsletter that the iPhone 16 series will not have any major hardware advancements in 2024. “So, Apple is relying on into software to sell users new models."

The journalist said Apple is working to bring general AI features into the new iPhone software.

There's no word on specific AI features, Samsung also recently announced AI capabilities including real-time call translation, image generation, document summarization, and message drafting. So Apple will probably offer some of these features as well.

Gurman also reiterated that Apple has decided to temporarily pause the development of new iPhone and Mac updates for a short time to fix bugs. So, hopefully this delay helps make iOS 18 and its AI features a smooth experience.

On the other hand, leaks about the iPhone 16 show that the device will have a new physical button, a smaller Dynamic Island, and a folding lens zoom camera on the Pro device.
