Left behind: Payday 2 surpasses Payday 3 and is 10 times more popular

Starbreeze Etertainment continues to face issues with the launch of Payday 3. After a disastrous debut, the title continues to decline on platforms and loses in popularity to Payday 2, which has 10 times more players on Steam.

Last Tuesday (24), the user count on Steam registered a peak of 2,725 players in relation to the most recent title in the franchise. Meanwhile, Payday 2 was buoyed by the flaws in its sequel and surprisingly reached 24,695 users at its peak.

This difference is a response due to the many problems faced by Payday 3 since its debut. In addition to experiencing connection problems due to the online requirement, the game was hampered by the blocking of cosmetic content for the PS5, guaranteed through the Silver and Gold editions.

Valve's platform also records other negative issues involving the game. At the moment, the title has mixed reviews, 60% of which are negative.

Payday 3 is available for PS5, Xbox Series and PC.

Payday 3 patch is on the way

In a note published today (25), Starbreeze apologized to fans for the delay in communication. According to the studio, a patch is on the way and will resolve progression and item redemption issues for PS5 players. In recent days, the company has been facing critical development issues.
The reason it took us so long to prepare this first patch is very long and complicated, but the short version is that we discovered critical errors in our update pipeline shortly after the game launched. There was a significant risk of player progression being killed if we didn't address this and ensure a solid testing environment.

The update will be released “as soon as we can”, and more content is planned to be available “on a consistent basis”.
